CULTURAL COUNCIL

The Cultural Council has launched a new European Charter - the so called Barcelona Charter - for the protection of historic traditional ships. The text to be modeled on that agreed by the 2nd International Congress of Architects and Technicians of Historic Monuments in Venice in May 1964 ( the Venice Charter).

The Barcelona Charter was created by European Maritime Heritage (EMH) as a code of best practice and minimum standard for conservation and restoration of vessels to be recognized as traditional ships in operation.
